We are delighted to be among the main sponsors for the 10th annual West Wiltshire Dance Festival. The festival, which is organised through the West Wiltshire School Sport Partnership, aims to celebrate dance in its many forms with the theme for 2015 being 'Children's Books'.
Selwyn Widger, West Wiltshire Dance Festival co-ordinator said: "I am really excited about this year's festival for a number of reasons; this will be my first experience; it's the 10th year it has taken place and I can't wait to see the children's book theme interpreted through dance."
This year, there will be 35 primary and secondary schools represented with a total of 720 children taking part over two evening performances. To help the children and schools involved prepare for the festival, Caroline Newman, partnership dance coach, visits each participating school to inspire the children - and teachers - with ideas through movement and dance. As Caroline explains: "I’ve been involved in organising the dance festival since 2004. It's a fantastic opportunity for schools to perform to a larger audience than they might be used to all within a prestigious setting. The festival provides an excellent way for schools to evidence their participation in cultural activities as well as providing a fabulous performance platform to show off all their hard work. I can't wait to see the results!"
The 2015 dance festival is being held at the popular venue of The Forum in Bath and takes place on the evening of Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 February. If you are interested in attending tickets can be purchased from www.bathforum.co.uk with all proceeds going towards funding future West Wiltshire School Sport Partnership events.
We would like to wish all of the schools taking part the very best of luck and we can't wait to join you on the night!
