The Consortium is delighted to support Shakespeare Schools Festival. Since launching in 2000, the Shakespeare Schools Festival has worked with 150,000 young people across the UK. In 2015 they enabled 35,000 students perform their own Shakespeare production, making them not just the largest youth drama festival in the UK, but in the world.
Shakespeare Schools Festival (SSF) welcomes young people from all areas, cultures and backgrounds - especially encouraging students who wouldn't normally take part in arts projects. Their unique combination of scripts, resources, training and relationships with theatres offer teachers the tools to enable a whole class, of any age and ability, to experience the life-changing experience of performing the UK's greatest playwright live on a professional stage in front of a paying audience.
Outcomes for children typically include increased confidence and aspirations; increased engagement with learning and school, and improved life skills.
