Responsible Business: Climate change action plan
In this section of the website you can learn what makes us a responsible
business within our community and our environment.
The Consortium have used the GHG protocol as the method of establishing their Carbon Footprint.
We have defined the organisation as The Consortium for Purchasing and Distribution Ltd, Hammond Way, Trowbridge,
Wiltshire. BA14 8RR. Our reporting time period will coincide with our financial year which runs from October
to September.
In the 2006-7 financial year The Consortium recorded 184 Tonnes of Scope 1 emissions and 310 Tonnes
of Scope 2. This is equivalent to the carbon emissions produced in driving 66 times round the World
in a medium sized diesel car.
During 2007-8 we will be measuring our Scope 3 emissions. Initially we expect to deliver data
on the areas where we as an organisation have significant impact and can impact on reducing emission levels.
These are:
- Deliveries to customers
- Waste disposal
- Business travel – non car
- Deliveries by suppliers to our warehouse
- Staff travel to work
