The Consortium's employees and suppliers 'club' together to help Alzheimer's Support
The Consortium's employees and suppliers "club" together to help Alzheimer's Support
September 2011
Things went with a swing when one of Trowbridge's biggest employers held a charity golf event!
The Consortium, the UK's leading independent supplier to the education and care sectors, arranged the event for over 75 customers, suppliers and employees to raise money for a charity that helps families in Wiltshire affected by Alzhiemer's.
More than £1200 was raised on the day through a combination of sponsorship, a raffle and a putting competition with prizes including an iPod Touch and a golfing break for 2 people all being donated by The Consortium's suppliers and Bowood Golf Resort in Wiltshire, where the event was held.
The company, which in the past has raised £33,000 for Build Africa to build a new school in Uganda, decided to raise money for Alzheimer's Support after asking staff to nominate their chosen charity.
Alzheimer's Support provides a range of flexible, specialist services across Wiltshire, which give people with Alzheimer's or other dementias, and their carers real choice, whilst maintaining as much independence and control over their lives as possible.
Mark Barnett, Chief Operating Officer at The Consortium, which employs 250 people, said: "The Consortium has a rich history of charity work of which we are all very proud. We'd like to thank all our suppliers for supporting for this event and helping to make it a thoroughly entertaining day despite the wind and rain!"
